Police Charge Self-serving Man

Police have charged a man following an alleged armed robbery at a Main Road liquor store in Eltham last night.

It is alleged that, when served, a man’s card was declined at the checkout about 7pm.

The man then allegedly produced a knife and pointed it towards a shop keeper.

No one was physically injured.

The man allegedly fled the scene on foot, making off with a 10 pack of bourbon cans.

After a quick search of the area, police arrested a man and allegedly recovered the 10 pack in question.

A 25-year-old Montmorency man was charged with armed robbery.

He was remanded to appear before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court later today.
