Somerville Highway Patrol officers have charged a teenager following an alleged hit-run collision in Frankston earlier this week.
A woman and her dog were struck on the footpath by an allegedly stolen grey sedan on Franciscan Avenue about 3.45pm on Tuesday, 25 August.
The 44-year-old woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Her dog sustained minor injuries during the incident.
The driver allegedly continued a short distance, then crashed into a stationary vehicle and a residential fence further down the road, before attempting to flee on foot.
The grey sedan was allegedly stolen from a Frankston address on 25 August.
The 17-year-old boy from the Mornington Peninsula area was arrested nearby and taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
He’s been interviewed by police and charged with 17 offences including:
- reckless conduct endangering Life
- reckless conduct endangering serious injury
- drive in manner dangerous
- careless driving
- fail to stop vehicle after an accident
- fail to render assistance after accident
- possess controlled weapon (x4)
- unlicensed Driving
- burglary
- theft of motor vehicle
He was bailed to appear at a children’s court on a later date.
