Police charge teens with murder after stabbing in Riverstone

Two boys have been charged with murder after a man was fatally stabbed in Sydney’s west overnight.

Just after 12.30am (Sunday 24 May 2020), emergency services were called to a home on Langton Street, Riverstone, after reports of a home invasion.

Police have been told a group of at least five males entered the home and stabbed the male occupant, before fleeing.

Officers from Quakers Hill Police Area Command performed CPR on the 39-year-old man until the arrival of NSW Ambulance paramedics, but he died at the scene.

Two women aged 34 and 42 were also in the home at the time.

The younger woman suffered minor injuries and was treated by NSW Ambulance Paramedics at the scene.

Police established several crime scenes, which are continuing to be examined by specialist forensic officers.

A search of the surrounding area was conducted with assistance from PolAir, the Dog Unit and the Public Order and Riot Squad.

Just after 1.10am today, two boys – aged 16 and 17 – were arrested on Regent Street and taken to Riverstone Police Station.

Both have been charged with murder and refused bail to face a children’s court tomorrow (Monday 25 May 2020).

Inquiries into the incident are continuing and police are still working to locate others allegedly involved.
