Police charge three after investigation into property offences in Cumberland

Three people have been charged in relation to several property offences allegedly committed throughout the North West and South West Metropolitan Regions.

About 10.50am yesterday (Thursday 7 March 2019), officers attached to the Proactive Crime Team at Cumberland Police Area Command executed a search warrant at a house on Woodville Road, Merrylands.

During the search, a 16-year-old boy was arrested, and a number of items were located and seized including phones and jewellery, believed to be stolen.

A second search warrant was executed by officers from Leichhardt Police Area Command at Minogue Crescent, Forest Lodge, where an 18-year-old man was arrested.

Later that day, a 17-year-old boy was arrested in Willmot after officers from Mount Druitt Police Area Command allegedly sighted him in a vehicle that had been reported stolen.

The 16-year-old was taken to Granville Police Station and charged with enter building/land with intent commit indictable offence, aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence (x5) and be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner (x2).

He appeared in a children’s court today (Friday 8 March 2019) and was formally refused bail to reappear on Friday 12 April 2019.

The 18-year-old man was taken to Newtown Police Station and charged with enter building/land with intent commit indictable offence, aggravated break and enter and commit serious indicatable offence (x4) and be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.

He appeared in Newtown Local Court today and was formally refused bail to reappear in Parramatta Local Court on Friday 3 May 2019.

The 17-year-old boy was taken to Mt Druitt Police Station and charged with aggravated break and enter in company, aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence (x4) and take and drive conveyance without consent of owner.

He appeared in a children’s court today and was formally bail refused to reappear on Friday 12 April 2019.
