Police charge three after Preston incident

Police have charged three people following an alleged abduction and stabbing in Preston on Sunday evening.

A 20-year-old man from Northcote was charged with theft of motor vehicle and bailed to appear at the Heidelberg Magistrates’ Court on 12 February.

A 17-year-old Ivanhoe boy has been charged with theft of motor vehicle, committing an indictable offence while on bail, failing to stop on police direction, failing to stop at a collision and unlicenced driving.

He is expected to appear before a children’s court later today.

An 18-year-old Preston woman has been charged with theft of motor vehicle, possessing a drug of dependence and committing an indictable offence while on bail.

She is expected to appear before the Heidelberg Magistrates Court later today.

A 16-year-old Heidelberg Heights girl was released pending further enquiries.

Officers were called about 9.40pm on 10 September following reports of a stolen silver Hyundai in Mitchell Street, Northcote.

Officers located the stolen car travelling south along High Street before the victim, an 18-year-old Fitzroy man, was released from the car at the intersection of Bell Street.

The teen was transported to hospital with non-life threatening facial injuries, believed to be stab wounds.

Officers arrested the four offenders in Biscoff Street shortly later.

Whittlesea Crime Investigation Unit detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the alleged abduction.
