Police charge two after hydroponic set up dismantled in South Coast

A man and woman have been charged with drug offences after police dismantled a hydroponic cannabis set up, following a search warrant on the state’s South Coast yesterday.

Just before 10.30am (Wednesday 21 July 2021), officers attached to South Coast Police District executed a search warrant at a home on Tallwood Crescent, Rosedale, where police allegedly located an enhanced hydroponic grow room in a bedroom.

Police seized 49 plants, hydroponic growing equipment, cannabis leaf and prescription medication.

A child was also located at the premises, and police will allege the grow room was open and accessible to the child.

A 50-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Batemans Bay Police Station, where he was charged with enhanced indoor cultivate plant – expose child, possess prohibited drug, and cultivate prohibited plant.

The Rosedale man was granted conditional bail to appear in Batemans Bay Local Court on Monday 9 August 2021.

A 37-year-old woman was issued a Future Court Attendance Notice in relation to possessing dried cannabis leaf and possessing a prescribed restricted substance.

Anyone with information about the cultivation and supply of cannabis is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence.
