Police charge two after man detained, robbed in Drummoyne

Two men have been charged after a man was allegedly robbed and detained in Sydney’s Inner West earlier this year.

During the evening of Wednesday 22 June 2022, a 62-year-old man was confronted by two men in his home on Thompson Street at Drummoyne.

The men, who were armed with a baton, demanded cash before ordering the man to drive to a nearby ATM.

He was then allegedly made to withdraw and hand over cash.

After returning to the Drummoyne home, the men stole his Holden Malibu before fleeing in the vehicle.

Police were alerted and detectives from Burwood Police Area Command – assisted by police attached to Operation Hawk and the South West Metropolitan Region – have been investigating the alleged incident.

The man wasn’t injured.

Following inquiries, a 29-year-old man was arrested on 1 July 2022. He was charged and bail refused to next appear in Burwood Local Court on 24 August 2022.

After further inquiries, detectives arrested a 35-year-old man about 7.45am today (Tuesday 16 August 2022).

The Holroyd man was taken to Granville Police Station where he was charged with robbery in company; and take/detain person with intent to obtain advantage.

He was refused bail to appear at Fairfield Local Court today (Tuesday 16 August 2022).

Inquiries are continuing.
