Police charge two after pursuit with stolen car, South Australia

Two teens have been arrested after a short police pursuit in the southern suburbs this afternoon.

Just after 5pm on Wednesday 6 March, police were called to Pembry Crescent in Morphett Vale after a member of the public reported seeing two males in a Honda Civic. The car allegedly had an obscured number plate and had been stolen from Lightsview between Wednesday 27 and Thursday 28 February.

When patrols arrived in the street, the Honda allegedly drove away and as patrols attempted to stop the car it refused to pull over and a brief pursuit ensued. Patrols pursued the Honda for a short time before the chase was terminated. The car was last seen on States Road.

Additional patrols were called to the area and cordons were set in place before the Honda was dumped on Coonawarra Close. Police Dog Zac was called into assist with the search and a short time later two males were located and arrested on Tripodi Street.

A 19-year-old man from Mount Barker and a 16-year-old boy from Point Pearce were charged with numerous offences including illegal use of a motor vehicle, drive dangerously to escape pursuit, drive disqualified and unlawful possession.

They were both refused bail and will appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court on Thursday 7 March.
