Police charge two after stabbing at Wollongong

Two men have been charged over the alleged stabbing of another man in the Wollongong area at earlier this week.

About 1.35pm on Monday (24 April 2023), emergency services were called to Myuna Way, Mangerton, following reports of a brawl.

Officers attached to Wollongong Police District responded and were told a fight involving six people resulted in two men seriously injuries.

A 31-year-old man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics and conveyed to Wollongong Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

Another man – aged 29 – was taken to hospital in a serious condition. He has since been released and charged with robbery armed with offensive weapon – serious indictable offence.

Following further inquiries, detectives attended a unit on Johanson Crescent, Mangerton, and arrested a 28-year-old man, about 9:30am yesterday (Tuesday 25 April 2023).

He was taken to Wollongong Police Station where he was charged with affray, and malicious wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm – serious indictable offence.

Both men appeared in Wollongong Local Court yesterday (Tuesday 25 April 2023), where they were formally refused bail to reappear in the same court today (Wednesday 26 April 2023).
