Two men have been charged after an allegedly stolen car drove through a fence and crashed into a house in Coburg North early this morning.

A 24-year-old Shepparton man has been charged with possessing a drug of dependence and the proceeds of crime, theft of a bicycle, stating a false name and committing an indictable offence while on bail.

It is expected he will appear before the Shepparton Magistrates’ Court next week.

A 36-year-old man has been charged with reckless conduct endangering life and theft of motor vehicle.

The Richmond man was bailed to appear before Heidelberg Magistrates’ Court on 4 May 2021.

The charges follow reports a car crashed into a house on Sydney Road about 1am.

Three people allegedly fled the vehicle but specialist units including the Air Wing and the Dog Squad were deployed and the trio were located nearby a short time later and taken into custody.

Checks revealed the vehicle, a silver Peugeot, had allegedly been stolen from an address in Eltham on 23 November.

A 20-year-old woman from South Melbourne has been released pending further enquiries.
