Police charge two men over Burnie burglaries

Two men from Upper Burnie have been charged with multiple burglary, stealing and fraud offences following two separate incidents at a Burnie education facility.

Various items of property including musical instruments, computers, cash, a credit card and students’ personal belongings were stolen from the Mirabeena Multicap building in late April 2020.

The stolen credit card was used to make various unauthorised online purchases.

On Monday, 11 May 2020 Burnie CIB Detectives executed multiple search warrants in the Upper Burnie area.

A 39-year-old man from Upper Burnie was charged with multiple burglary, stealing and fraud offences.

A 22-year-old man from Upper Burnie was charged with burglary, stealing and firearms offences.

Both men were also charged with failing to comply with a direction of the Director of Public Health.

They were both bailed to appear in the Burnie Magistrates Court on 11 August 2020.

The stolen property is yet to be recovered.
