Police charge two men with DV offences in Eastgardens

Two men have been charged over separate domestic violence incidents after being stopped by police in Sydney’s east yesterday.

About 5.50pm Thursday 20 February 2020, police allege a 19-year-old was involved in a domestic incident on Meeks Street in Kingsford and evaded officers the following day at a property in Matraville (Friday 21 February 2020).

About 9.50pm Saturday 22 February 2020, police allege a 24-year-old man was also involved in a domestic incident at a property on Beauchamp Road in Matraville.

Following inquiries, officers from Eastern Beaches Police Area Command stopped the men in a vehicle in Eastgardens about 11.30pm yesterday (Sunday 23 February 2020).

They were arrested and taken to Maroubra Police Station.

The 24-year-old has been charged with two counts of contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (domestic), attempt stalk/intimidate intend fear of harm, drive conveyance taken without consent of owner and drive while license is cancelled.

The 19-year-old has been charged with contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (domestic), common assault, resist officer in execution of duty, and prisoner escape from lawful custody.

Both men were refused bail at Waverley Local Court today (24 February 2020), and will reappear at the same court on Wednesday 26 February 2020.
