Police charge woman after shooting at Guildford

A woman has been charged following a public place shooting in Sydney’s west last year.

About 9.35pm on Monday 27 November 2023, police were called to Bligh Street, Guildford, after reports of a shooting.

On arrival, officers located a bullet hole at the front gate of a property, although no one was injured.

Officers from Cumberland Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the incident under Strike Force Gelding.

A 29-year-old woman was arrested at the scene and taken to Granville Police Station; however, she was released pending further inquiries.

Following inquiries, around 9.30am on Wednesday 6 December 2023, a 29-year-old woman was arrested during a vehicle stop on Thornton Avenue, Bass Hill.

She was taken to Bankstown Police Station where she was charged with two counts of possess unauthorised pistol and hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty.

Around 11.30am that same day, officers from the Tactical Operations Unit and Raptor Squad arrested a 30-year-old man at Ann Thorn Park, Ryde.

He was taken to Gladesville Police Station and charged with three counts of supply unregistered firearm/pistol, acquire pistol subject to firearms prohibition order, and discharge firearm intend cause grievous bodily harm (domestic violence). The man remains before the Courts.

Following inquiries, about 7.00am on Thursday 25 January 2024, Strike Force detectives arrested a 29-year-old woman at a unit in Chester Hill.

She was taken to Granville Police Station where she was charged with four offences – supply prohibited drug, knowingly direct activities of criminal group, knowingly deal with proceeds of crime and possess unauthorised pistol.

The woman was refused bail and will appear before Parramatta Local Court tomorrow (Friday 26 January 2024.
