Police charge youth after incidents in Redcliffe

Detectives from the Rapid Apprehension Squad have charged a male youth as a result of their investigation into several incidents involving a weapon.

It will be alleged about 8.45pm on Monday 24 April 2023, the accused attended a service station located on Great Eastern Highway, Redcliffe where it is alleged he pointed a handgun at staff and demanded money. He fled with a sum of cash.

It is also alleged on Wednesday 26 April 2023, the male youth entered a liquor store located on Great Eastern Highway, Redcliffe about 7.50pm armed with a handgun but fled before demanding money.

About 10.20pm the same evening it is alleged the youth attended a service station on Great Eastern Highway, Redcliffe armed with a handgun but again fled when he was unable to access the store.

About 10.45pm the same evening it is alleged the youth attended a fast food outlet located on Great Eastern Highway, Redcliffe armed with a handgun but fled prior to entering.

The 16-year-old male youth from Ascot is due to appear before the Perth Children’s Court today, 2 May 2023 on the charges of:-

• One count of Armed Robbery;

• Three counts of Attempted Armed Robbery;

• One count of Possessed a Prohibited Weapon; and

• One count of Possession of Stolen or Unlawfully Obtained Property.

Detectives recovered the handgun which was identified as a “gel blaster”.
