A group of alleged burglars’ hit a wall after being arrested following a construction site burglary in Glen Eden early this morning.
Police were called to the site on West Coast Road just after 1am.
“Three unidentified people were seen breaking into a shipping container inside the premises, before loading up a vehicle and leaving the scene,” Waitematā West Area Response Manager, Senior Sergeant Jon Winthrop says.
A witness was able to provide Police with the registration plate of the vehicle, and units quickly began to search the area.
“Police camera operators located the vehicle heading towards the address of the registered owner,” Senior Sergeant Winthrop says.
“Eagle sighted the vehicle parked outside that address on Denver Avenue, Sunnyvale.”
Officers attended the address and located all three alleged offenders inside, with a range of items believed to be stolen.
“Our staff conducted a search and recovered the property, which included tools, gardening equipment and household items,” Senior Sergeant Winthrop says.
“This was a good result, not only holding these alleged offenders to account, but for the victims as well who were able to get their property back.
“Police continue to send the message that this type of offending will not be tolerated, and these alleged offenders will now have to face the consequences of their actions in court.”
A 24-year-old man, a 24-year-old woman and a 52-year-old woman will all appear in the Waitākere District Court today charged with burglary by night.
