Police continue investigations into carjacking in Caringbah

Police are continuing their investigations following a carjacking at Caringbah earlier this week.

About 8.10pm on Tuesday 4 June 2019, a man arrived at a commercial premise on Woodfield Boulevarde, Caringbah to view a white Nissan Patrol advertised for sale.

The man, who arrived with a woman in a blue SUV, spoke to the man who had advertised the vehicle.

Both men went for a test drive while the woman left in the SUV.

The man stopped the vehicle near the roundabout on Eloura Road at Cronulla and produced a handgun, threatened the owner, and demanded he get out of the vehicle.

The offender took the owner’s phone and drove away. The owner alerted witnesses in a nearby car and they attempted to follow the Nissan but lost sight of the vehicle.

The witnesses then returned the man to Caringbah where he contacted police.

Officers from Sutherland Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene at the commercial premises on Woodfield Boulevarde and a search of the area for the vehicle was unsuccessful.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who may have dash-cam vision, is urged to come forward.

Police have appealed for anyone who has information about the white 2004 Nissan Patrol with NSW registration of BF47SC, not to approach it but to contact police immediately.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence.
