Police Hold Concerns For Welfare Of Edith Falls

Northern Territory Police are seeking public assistance to locate 61-year-old Dominic O’Connell, who was last seen at Edith Falls on Sunday afternoon.

Dominic was visiting Edith Falls with his wife and was last seen between 1pm and 3pm in the vicinity of the lower Plunge Pool within Nitmiluk National Park.

He is described as Caucasian, approximately six feet tall, of slim build, with shoulder length brown and white hair and a short beard. He was last seen wearing prescription glasses with dark blue frames, white shorts with a black and blue pattern, and no shirt. He also has distinctive tattoos on both shoulders.

Police and Parks and Wildlife NT Rangers have conducted an extensive search of the area using a range of resources but have so far been unable to locate Dominic. Police divers will commence searching the water this morning as search efforts continue.

While Edith Falls remains open today, the lower Plunge Pool is closed to the public and is only accessible to members involved in the search.

Police understand there were a number of people in and around the Edith Falls Plunge Pool at the time Dominic was last seen and are particularly keen to speak with anyone who was in the area between 1pm and 3pm on Sunday.

Anyone who has seen Dominic, has information about his whereabouts, or was at Edith Falls during this time is urged to contact police on 131 444 and quote reference P26254100.
