Police hunt for Southbank wheelie bin burglars

Melbourne Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for public assistance following a burglary in Southbank earlier this year.

Police believe an unknown man forced entry to a private construction site on Southbank Boulevard at 12.02am on 11 February.

At 4.52am a second man drove into the site and parked an unknown vehicle next to the building.

The men proceeded to steal a large amount of power tools by loading up several bins and wheeling them out to the waiting vehicle.

The men left the area shortly before 6am.

The first man is described as Caucasian in appearance, 25 to 35 years-old with a slim build, short brown hair and a pale complexion.

He was wearing a blue jacket with a red lined hood, a black hat, blue jeans and dark-coloured sneakers.

The second man is described as Caucasian in appearance, 30 to 35 years-old with a medium build, brown hair and a brown beard.

He was wearing a black hat with a white logo, a black t-shirt, grey track pants and white ‘Nike’ sneakers.

Investigators have released CCTV footage and images of two men they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.
