Police investigate 2019 St Kilda sex assault

Detectives from the Bayside Sexual Offence and Child Abuse Investigation Team (SOCIT) are appealing for public assistance as part of their investigation into a sexual assault in St Kilda last year.

Investigators have been told the victim, a 20-year-old woman, attended a party at a venue on Fitzroy Street on the early hours of 14 February 2019.

While at the party the woman struck up a conversation with a man unknown to her.

The pair went outside where the man sexually assaulted her.

The matter was reported to police December 2019 and detectives have made a number of enquiries to identify attendees of the event.

Investigators have released an image of a man who they are seeking to identify in the hope he may be able to assist with their ongoing investigation.

The man is perceived to be aged in his mid to late 30s, about 183cm tall, with a muscular build, and spoke with an Australian accent.

Detectives are appealing for the man to come forward to police.

Anyone who recognises the man or with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au

Victoria Police is committed to investigating matters of sexual assault and bringing those responsible to justice.
