Police investigate after knife produced after crash in North Parramatta

Police are appealing for information after a knife was produced following a crash between two vehicles in North Parramatta at the weekend.

About 7pm on Sunday 15 September 2019, a van was stopped at the intersection of Buller Street and Gladstone Street, North Parramatta, when a Hyundai iLoad crashed into it.

The driver of the iLoad got out and approached the van and had a conversation with the driver.

He got back into the iLoad and tried to drive away, however, due to the damage sustained in the crash the vehicle wasn’t driveable.

The driver of the iLoad got out and produced a knife. He approached a member of the public and claimed to be a police officer before running from the scene.

A closer look at the iLoad revealed an amount of property suspected of being stolen including a television, copper wiring, a screw driver and gloves.

Officers from Parramatta Police Area Command attended and seized the iLoad for forensic testing.

Officers are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or the events that occurred after the collision, to contact them at Parramatta Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence.
