Police investigate after pedestrian hit by car in Sylvania

Police are investigating after a woman was hit by a car in Sydney’s south this afternoon.

Just before 2pm (Wednesday 29 December 2021), emergency services were called to Port Hacking Road, near the intersection of Bellingara, Sylvania, following reports a 70-year- old woman had been hit by a car.

The woman was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics, before being airlifted to St George Hospital in a critical condition.

The male driver was uninjured and underwent a roadside breath test that returned a negative result. He was also taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers attached to Sutherland Shire Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
