Police investigate armed robbery at Newtown 7 November

Detectives investigating the armed robbery of a hotel in Newtown in the early hours of yesterday morning have released CCTV vision of a man they believe may be able to assist them with their inquiries.

Around 4.20am a man reportedly entered the closed business on Bridge Street through a window before proceeding to a rear office. The man then threatened a female staff member with a knife and demanded money from a safe.

A second female employee, who witnessed the incident alerted police while the man left the scene with a sum of cash. The female staff members were not physically injured.

He is described as Caucasian, with a heavy build, and was wearing a grey jumper, black long pants and black shoes. He was also wearing a black balaclava on his face and had green and yellow coloured gardening gloves on.
