Police Investigate Attempted Burglary In Katherine

Northern Territory Police are investigating an attempted vehicle theft that resulted in the assault of a Katherine resident on Monday.

Just before 9:15pm, the occupant of a residence on Clarke Crescent went outside after hearing noises on his property. He discovered an unknown male allegedly attempting to steal his vehicle.

When the man confronted the offender, he was allegedly assaulted, suffering facial injuries, before the offender fled the scene on foot towards Robin Street.

Police and St John Ambulance attended, and the man was taken to Katherine Hospital with minor injuries.

Investigations led by the Katherine Criminal Investigation Branch are ongoing, and police are urging anyone who witnessed suspicious activity on Clarke Crescent between 8:30pm and 9:30pm, or who has CCTV or dash-cam footage from the area, to contact police on 131 444.
