Police investigate Ballarat burglaries

Ballarat detectives are investigating two aggravated burglaries which occurred overnight (25 Feb).

The first incident occurred at Soldiers Hill just before midnight when a burglar entered the garage of a home on Gregory Street and stole a 2017 Honda CRV registered 1JF 7KI.

The victim, a 32-year-old woman, had left a credit card in her vehicle which the offender attempted to use, a short time later, at a near-by fast-food restaurant.

The second incident happened in Melvyn Crescent in Mount Clear at 1am.

On this occasion an unknown offender entered the Melvyn Street home while the victim, a 56-year-old woman, was asleep.

The victim woke up and saw a man, armed with a small knife, standing in her bedroom.

The burglar walked around the woman’s bed and stole several items from her bedside table before walking from the room.

The victims were not injured and investigators do not believe the two incidents are linked.
