Police investigate Bendigo stabbings

Detectives from Bendigo Crime Investigation Unit are appealing for witnesses following two separate stabbing incidents the Bendigo area in the past week.

Police are investigating following an incident at the Bendigo showgrounds yesterday.

Investigators have been told a staff member observed an unknown man lying on the ground and approached to make sure he was alright about 10am on 28 July.

The unknown man jumped up and stabbed the victim.

He was last seen running from the rear of the showgrounds west near the Long Gully trail towards Holdsworth Road.

The victim, a 51-year-old North Bendigo man, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The offender was perceived to be Caucasian, aged in his 20’s, approximately 177cm tall and was wearing a black flat top cap, black hooded top and a grey coloured material facemask

Detectives are also investigating a separate incident where a man was dropped at a Bendigo hospital last week.

Investigators have been told a 29-year-old man was dropped at the hospital with injuries to his head and face about 9.50am on 22 July.

Police believe the man received his injuries following an altercation between known parties in Kennington earlier in the morning and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Investigators are keen to identify the driver of a red station wagon that the victim was seen getting into in the Kennington area.

Detectives do not believe the incidents are linked.
