Police investigate Burwood collision

Whitehorse Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for witnesses and dash cam footage following a four car collision in Burwood yesterday.

Investigators sighted an alleged stolen Subaru sedan, registration REO100 travelling south on Station Street about 11.30am and initiated a short pursuit.

It is alleged the Subaru side-swiped several parked cars before police called off the pursuit.

Investigators believe the Subaru travelled west on the wrong side of Riverdale Road before colliding with a parked white Holden Captiva, and a white VW Polo hatch and a blue Kia sedan travelling south on Elgar Road.

The driver of the Subaru, a 23-year-old Glen Waverley man, was arrested at the scene and conveyed to hospital with non-life threatening Injuries.

The occupants of the Polo, an 86-year-old Balwyn man, an 86-year-old Balwyn woman and a 53-year-old Box Hill South woman received serious injuries and were hospitalised.

The driver of the Kia, a 68-year-old Camberwell man was not injured.

The Holden Captiva was unoccupied.

The 23-year-old Glen Waverley man was interviewed and charged with a number of offences including theft of motor vehicle, fail to stop after an accident, reckless conduct endangering serious Injury.

He appeared at Ringwood Magistrates’ Court today where he was further remanded.

No one else was injured in the incident.

The investigation is ongoing.
