Police investigate collision in Carrum Downs

Somerville Highway Patrol officers are investigating a collision in Carrum Downs on 14 July.

It’s alleged two utes were travelling at high speed when one ute lost control on Frankston-Dandenong Road just after 3pm, crashing into a bus stop and hitting two pedestrians.

The pedestrians, a 71-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman were taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

A male driver, a 25-year-old Frankston South man, was arrested at the scene and taken to hospital with serious injuries where he remains under police guard.

The driver of a second vehicle, a 37-year-old Frankston man, was also arrested at the scene and has been interviewed and released pending summons.

It’s alleged both cars were being driven erratically, possibly racing, just prior to the collision.
