Police investigate Cranbourne West phone tower fire

Crime and Counter Terrorism Command detectives are continuing to investigate a suspicious fire at a mobile phone tower in Cranbourne West on 18 May.

Emergency services were called to the tower near Parnell Court shortly after 1.30am on Friday, 22 May.

The fire was extinguished, and Arson and Explosives investigators attended the scene later than morning and deemed the fire to be suspicious.

Police have released an image of a Holden Commodore sedan that was seen in the area prior to the fire.

The vehicle was driving without headlights on in the vicinity of Parnell Court and police are keen to identify the driver or registered owner of the vehicle.

Images and CCTV have been released of the tower fire and vehicle in the hope someone can provide any information that can assist investigators.

Counter Terrorism investigators are continuing to work closely with detectives from the Arson and Explosives Squad in relation to the ongoing investigation.

Should the investigation reveal that the fire was a deliberate act, it will be treated with the utmost seriousness and the offending viewed as a potential sabotage offence targeting critical infrastructure.
