Police investigate Ellerslie burglary and subsequent deceptions

Warrnambool Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for public assistance following a burglary in Ellerslie last month.

Investigators have been told an unknown offender/s broke into a home on Hamilton Highway sometime between 14 and 17 March while the occupants were away.

While inside, the offenders stole a white Apple Mac Book Pro, a quantity of cash and a bank card.

Police believe four unsuccessful attempts were later made to withdraw money using the bank card at an ATM on the corner of Percy and Henty streets, Portland about 3.20am on 17 March.

A further attempt is believed to have been made about 11.10pm on 17 March at an ATM on Malop Street, Geelong.

Investigators have released images of two men who they believe can assist with their enquiries.

Both have been described as aged between 18 to 30 years of age.

Police believe the men may have been travelling in a station wagon.
