Police investigate extensive St Arnaud fire

Northern Grampians Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fire which destroyed thousands of bales of hay and storage sheds in St Arnaud on Sunday,11 April.

Emergency services were called to Charlton-St Arnaud Road about 7.30am where the blaze had taken hold of the hay.

The fire destroyed approximately 8500 bales of hay valued at approximately

$1 million and caused approximately $2 million worth of damage to the storage sheds.

The fire is expected to smoulder for several days.

Arson chemists and detectives are continuing to investigate the cause of the fire.

Detectives have released CCTV and images of the blazing fire in the hope someone can assist investigators.
