Police investigate fatal collision in Phillip Island

Bass Coast Highway Patrol officers are investigating a three-car collision that claimed the life of a woman in Phillip Island this morning.

It is believed a white Nissan Pulsar was travelling along Phillip Island Road towards Cowes when the female driver lost control about 11.30am.

The Nissan clipped a car towing a caravan and then collided head-on with a Jeep.

The driver of the Nissan, a 63-year-old Wonthaggi woman, died at the scene.

Her rear passenger, a nine-year-old boy, has been airlifted to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A man and woman in the car towing the caravan, were not injured.

The male driver of the Jeep, and sole occupant, was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Police are currently on scene investigating the exact circumstances around the collision and investigations are ongoing.
