Detectives from Fawkner Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team are investigating a sexual assault in Flemington on Sunday.
It is believed the female victim was approached by a male offender while she was working at a café in Pin Oak Crescent about 1pm.
It is alleged the offender spoke briefly to the victim before sexually assaulting her as she walked away.
Investigators have released an image of a man they believe may be able to help them with their investigation.
