Police investigate Middle Park non-fatal shooting

Detectives from the Armed Crime Squad are investigating the circumstances surrounding a shooting in Middle Park on Thursday evening.

Emergency services were called to a Canterbury Road address after reports a resident was shot and injured when he answered a knock to his front door about 7.50pm.

The 76-year-old man sustained a gunshot to his lower body and was conveyed to be hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Two women inside the property at the time, a 72-year-old and a 39-year-old, were not physically injured during the incident.

The male offender fled the scene on foot and was last seen headed towards Albert Park lake.

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are yet to be determined and the investigation remains ongoing.
