Police investigate Notting Hill theft and assault

Monash Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for public assistance following a theft and subsequent assault which occurred in Notting Hill earlier this week.

Officers have been told the victim, a 61-year-old Notting Hill man, heard people breaking into his truck about 5.15am on Tuesday 21 November.

He went outside and confronted three people who attempted to run from the scene.

The victim chased one of the offenders down Longbourne Avenue and managed to catch him.

A struggle ensued and it is alleged the other two offenders returned and attacked the victim with a pair of scissors and a brick until he let go of the offender.

It is believed the trio returned to two cars which were seen in the area prior to the attack and left.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries and approximately $20,000 of tools were stolen.

The offenders are believed to be male and aged in their late teens to early twenties.

Detectives have released CCTV of the cars seen in the area at the time of the incident the occupants of which may be able to assist police with their enquires.
