Police investigate pursuits in Northern Beaches

Police are investigating after two police pursuits occurred across the Northern Beaches overnight.

About 4am (Friday 19 April 2019), officers attached to the Northern Beaches Police Area Command observed two vehicles driving erratically in Newport.

The silver BMW and black Hyundai were followed by police onto the Wakehurst Parkway, and when the southbound vehicles failed to stop, a pursuit was initiated.

The two vehicles collided with each other about 400 metres south of the intersection with Warringah Road at Frenchs Forest.

Upon the arrival of police all occupants of the vehicle had fled. A search of the area by police and a police dog was unsuccessful.

About 5.50am officers sighted a blue Holden Commodore in Adams Street at Frenchs Forest and attempted to stop the vehicle.

The Holden failed to stop and collided with a taxi. A pursuit commenced but was terminated due to safety concerns.

The vehicle was last seen heading west over the Roseville Bridge at high speed.

Inquiries have revealed that the Hyundai was stolen overnight from Rose Bay, while the BMW was stolen overnight from Freshwater.

The Holden was stolen from a home in Frenchs Forest a short time prior to the pursuit and has been recovered in Lindfield.

Inquiries into the incident continue with police appealing for anyone with dash-cam footage or information about the incidents to come forward.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence.
