Police investigate robbery at company charges at Browns Plains, QLD

Police have charged four people after they allegedly stole a 73-year-old woman’s car at a shopping centre at Browns Plains this afternoon.

It will be alleged around 2.30pm two girls approached the woman in the car park off Grand Plaza Drive as she approached her car.

One girl pushed the woman, then grabbed her car keys and threw them to the other girl. The girl drove the vehicle picking up the other girl and two male teenagers before leaving the carpark.

Around 3.30pm police observed the stolen Hyundai Elantra in a shopping centre carpark on Waratah Drive at Crestmead and parked behind the vehicle. It will be further alleged the driver reversed the car into the police vehicle and another vehicle before the four teenagers fled on foot.

All four teenagers were located a short time later nearby.

A 17-year-old Logan Reserve girl has been charged with one count each of robbery with violence and dangerous operation of a vehicle, unlicensed driving, obstruct police and two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle. She has also been charged with two counts of stealing and trespass.

A 16-year-old Boronia Heights boy has been charged with one count each of robbery with violence and dangerous operation of a vehicle, unlicensed driving, obstruct police and two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

A 14-year-old Harristown girl has been charged with one count each of robbery with violence and stealing and two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

A 19-year-old Adare man has been charged with two counts of unlawful use of motor vehicle. He will appear in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court tomorrow, July 3.

The three teenagers will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act.

The victim, a 73-year-old Crestmead woman, was not physically injured in the incident.
