Northern Territory Police are investigating at a serious assault where a woman was assaulted in Alice Springs this afternoon.
Initial investigations indicate around 2:30pm a man and woman, who are known to each other, had a verbal argument at a taxi rank on Bath Street when it is alleged the man stripped naked before causing significant damage to a taxi.
Another man yelled at the naked man on the taxi, at which point the naked man chased the man into a breezeway.
Police attended and arrested the naked man at the scene. Paramedics arrived and transported the woman to hospital for treatment.
No one else was injured at the incident.
Investigations are underway and police urge anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them on 131 444 or report it anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 and reference PROMIS number 10072825.
