Police investigate serious assault at Nambour

Police are investigating a serious assault incident in Nambour last night which has left a man with head injuries.

Just after 7pm, the resident of a Mary Street unit disturbed a man breaking into his unit.

A scuffle ensued which resulted in the 53-year-old man sustaining a stab wound to his head and upper arm.

He was transported to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital for treatment to non-life-threatening injuries.

Anyone who may have witnessed or heard any suspicious behaviour in the area around 7pm is asked to contact police.

Investigations into the assault are ongoing.
