Police investigate serious assault at Oxley

Police are appealing to the public for assistance in the investigation into a serious assault at Oxley this afternoon (June 26).

At approximately 3pm on Douglas Street between Englefield Road and Rudd Street, a 34-year-old male motorist was assaulted by the driver of a white truck.

Initial investigations indicate the truck drove dangerously while overtaking a Volkswagen Golf, before both vehicles pulled over.

The male driver of the truck has then assaulted the Volkswagen’s 34-year-old passenger with a large stick, before leaving the scene in his vehicle.

The 34-year-old Durack man suffered a significant head injury, a fracture to his hand along with lacerations and bruising. He was transported in a serious condition to Princess Alexandra Hospital.

The driver of the Volkswagen was not physically injured.

Inala detectives are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or who has CCTV or dashcam footage in the area between 3pm and 3.30pm to contact police.

Investigations are ongoing.
