Police investigate serious assault at wounding at Maroochydore

Sunshine Coast detectives have arrested two people in relation to a serious assault this morning in Maroochydore which resulted in three people sustaining multiple stab wounds.

Just after 4am, officers were called to Ocean Street following reports of a physical disturbance between pedestrians and the occupants of a vehicle.

During the fight, it will be alleged the driver of the vehicle armed himself with a knife and stabbed three men, aged in their 20s, before fleeing the scene on foot.

The 20-year-old female passenger was taken into custody at the scene after allegedly verbally abusing police before physically assaulting a female police officer.

The 23-year-old driver of the vehicle was located just before 5.30am today and was taken to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital for treatment to facial injuries sustained during the brawl.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing and detectives are appealing for anyone with either dashcam or CCTV footage of the area at the time to make contact.
