Northern Territory Police are investigating after a 14-year-old boy was allegedly speared during ongoing disturbances in Ngukurr over the weekend.
On the evening of Friday 4 September 2026, police received multiple reports of a large disturbance involving members of two-family groups in the community.
A number of people were allegedly armed with weapons during the disturbance. No injuries were reported to police at that time.
Tensions escalated during Saturday afternoon, with police receiving further reports of disturbances involving weapons.
At around 5:35pm, police received a report that a 14-year-old boy had been speared in the middle of his back.
Police attended the local health clinic and spoke with the youth and his family. He was subsequently medically evacuated by CareFlight for further treatment and remains in a stable condition.
Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the disturbances and are working closely with community elders and local leadership groups to de-escalate tensions and prevent further incidents.
