Police investigate spitting incident on train

Police are investigating an incident on a train last month where a teenager was spat on whilst on a city bound train.

Investigators have been told a 14-year-old girl and her friend boarded the train at Newport Railway Station at 7.23am on 19 May.

An unknown man boarded the train at Footscray and after standing at the door and staring at the girls, he approached the pair, verbally abused them and then spat at the victim.

The teenager and her friend quickly moved carriages to avoid any further confrontation.

The man is described as 180cm tall, unshaven with short brown hair and was wearing a fluorescent green jumper.

Investigators have released images of a man they believe may be able to assist police with their enquiries.
