Police investigating after man found with head injuries in Matraville

An investigation is underway after a man was found with head and facial injuries at Matraville this morning.

Officers from Eastern Beaches Police Area Command were called to Bunnerong Road about 1.30am (Thursday 9 June 2022) and found a man unconscious on the footpath.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the man, aged in his 20s, before taking him to Prince of Wales Hospital, with a suspected fractured jaw. He remains in a serious condition.

Police have established a crime scene and have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the assault.

They have issued a description of a man they believe may be able to assist detectives with their inquiries.

He’s described as being of Caucasian appearance, solid build, about 183cm tall, and at the time was wearing a white t-shirt, white shorts, a dark hat, and had a cast on his right arm.

They are appealing for anyone who knows this person, or who has information about the assault, to contact Maroubra Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
