Police investigating after man shot in leg in Leppington

Police are investigating after a man was shot in the leg at Leppington tonight.

Just after 9pm (Wednesday 29 December 2021), emergency services were called to Carnelian Street, Leppington, following reports of shots fired.

On arrival, officers attached to Camden Police Area Command found a 28-year-old man suffering three gunshot wounds to his leg.

He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics, before being taken to hospital in a stable condition. His injuries are not considered to be life-threatening.

Detectives from Camden Police Area Command, with assistance from officers attached to Campbelltown Police Area Command, and the State Crime Command’s Raptor Squad conducted an extensive search of the area.

A short time later, emergency services attended Nettletree Street, Casula, following reports of a burnt-out vehicle. An investigation is underway to determine if the vehicle is linked to the shooting.

Crime scenes have been established at both locations, which are being forensically examined by specialist police.

Initial inquiries suggest the attack may have been targeted.
