Police investigating aggravated burglary at Broadmarsh property

Police are investigating an aggravated burglary at a property in Broadmarsh reported to police last night, and are seeking public sightings of a stolen black king-cab Mazda BT50 utility and/or a small grey and red excavator.

“Police last night received a report of an aggravated burglary at a house on Elderslie Road between 14 October and 27 October while the resident was away,” said Detective Senior Constable Phil Rule.

Several significant items were stolen from the residence and surrounding property including five firearms and ammunition that had not been correctly stored, a grey and red 1.7 Tonne Takeuchi excavator, a red Honda road/trail motorcycle, a black Mazda BT50 utility, a blue ride on lawnmower, several items of gold jewellery and numerous power tools. The value of the stolen property is close to $50,000.

“As part of the investigation police would like to speak to anyone who saw a black king-cab Mazda BT50 utility and/or a small grey and red excavator throughout Southern Tasmania in early to mid-October.

“It’s also timely for police to remind all firearms owners to ensure their firearms and ammunition are correctly stored in accordance with legislative requirements at all times.”

The owner of the firearms will be proceeded against for incorrect storage.

Anyone with information in relation to the burglary or the location of the vehicles and property stolen is asked to contact Tasmania Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800 333 000.
