Police investigating hit and run – Katherine

Northern Territory Police are calling for information following an alleged hit and run that occurred last night.

At about 9:45pm, a group of people were walking across Katherine Terrace towards Lindsay Street, when a Toyota Hilux struck a female pedestrian.

The driver stopped and attempted to assist the female. A male pedestrian then allegedly assaulted the driver.

The male pedestrian then allegedly stole the Toyota Hilux and drove over the legs of the already injured female pedestrian, before fleeing the scene.

Police pursued the vehicle however terminated the pursuit due to high speeds.

The female pedestrian and male driver were both taken to Katherine Hospital.

Police are searching for a white Toyota Hilux with NT registration 941067.
