Police investigating wounding at Gold Coast 9 August

Police have charged a man following an alleged break and enter and wounding incident in Varsity Lakes this morning, August 9.

It will be alleged at approximately 1am, the man gained entry to a unit on Christine Avenue where an altercation occurred between him and a 15-year-old occupant.

The occupant’s father awoke and intervened and was able to restrain the man before calling police.

Police attended and located a 15-year-old boy with a non-life-threatening wound to his chest. He was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment.

A 52-year-old Varsity Lakes man was taken into custody at the scene. It will be further alleged that police located a knife on him.

Police have since charged the man with one count each of wounding, enter dwelling and commit and possession of implements that had been used in relation to particular offences.

He has been denied police bail to appear at Southport Magistrates Court today, August 9.
