Police investigating wounding at Mackay

Police are investigating a wounding incident in Mackay yesterday (September 10).

At 5.45pm officers were called to the grounds of a James Street unit complex following reports of a disturbance.

Preliminary information suggests an altercation occurred between two men, aged 22 and 25, during which time one of the men threw a knife at the other man but missed him. The 25-year-old Mackay man sustained minor wounds to his hands trying to protect himself.

A 20-year-old man then came to the assistance of the 25-year-old man and sustained a stab wound to his back.

During the altercations, the 22-year-old man also sustained a deep wound to his thigh with police investigating how he sustained this injury.

The 22-year-old man from Mackay and the 20-year-old man from Beaconsfield were transported to the Mackay Hospital for treatment and both are in a stable condition.

The trio are known to each other.
