Police investigating wounding at Vincent

Police have charged a 19-year-old Ayr man after another man sustained a serious stab wound in Vincent yesterday evening (July 7).

It will be alleged the man had a verbal and physical altercation with a 20-year-old West End man at a shopping centre on Fulham Road.

It will be further alleged the Ayr man stabbed the West End man with a knife in the lower abdomen.

It is believed the two men were known to each other.

The West End man was transported to Townsville Hospital in a critical condition.

The Ayr man left the premises on foot and was later located by police at Gosper Street and arrested.

He was charged with one count each of grievous bodily harm and possession of a knife in a public place.

He is due to appear at Townsville Magistrates Court today (July 8).
