Police investigating wounding incident at Rothwell

A man is assisting police with their enquiries following a serious wounding of a woman in Rothwell this morning.

At about 8am, officers were called to a residence in Kelliher Street, following reports a 27-year-old woman had been shot.

The woman was transported to hospital and remains in a serious condition.

Investigations tracked a vehicle of interest to Bribie Island with police declaring an emergent situation under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) at 10.45am with cordons put in place to assist with police searches. The PSPA was revoked at 2.05pm.

A 27-year-old-man was located at an address on Sylvan Beach Esplanade at 3.45pm and was taken into police custody.

One man remains outstanding in relation to this matter. He is described as Caucasian, about 177cm tall, proportionate build and has no hair and blue eyes.

Police are urging anyone who sights the man or has any information regarding his current whereabouts to not approach him and to immediately call Triple Zero (000).

All three are known to each other.

Investigations are continuing.
